Around 1,000 private jets descended on the Bay Area ahead of the Super Bowl, but scores of jets were quick to get away once the action finished.
Business Insider tracked 95 private jets, using data from ADS-B Exchange, that departed Bay Area airports between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. PST on Sunday.
The confetti fell at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara around 7:20 p.m., after the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots.
San Jose Mineta International, the closest airport, is about a 10-minute drive away. However, many of the private fliers may have been attending parties in the area instead.
The exodus included Kim Kardashian's Gulfstream G650, which costs $65 million to buy new. The plane is registered to an LLC that shares its address with several companies owned by Kardashian and her family.
Kardashian was pictured at Levi's Stadium alongside Lewis Hamilton, the F1 driver whom she is rumored to be dating.
Her plane took off about two hours after the game ended and flew to Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles, according to ADS-B Exchange flight-tracking data.
Jay-Z and Beyoncé's Bombardier Global 7500 left just under an hour after the game, and also went to Van Nuys Airport. The jet's registered owner is a holding company that shares its address with Jay-Z's Roc Nation.
It was the most popular destination, with 15 of the 95 jets flying there. Another 14 flew from the Bay Area to Las Vegas airports.
Three of the 95 airplanes were still airborne at the time of publishing this article.
That included a Gulfstream G650 owned by Nike, which was flying over the Atlantic Ocean. Another one, with an Argentine tail number, was heading toward South America.
The vast majority of the other 92 private jets flew to cities within the US, but one went to Vancouver and another to Toluca, in Mexico.
The Super Bowl is one of the most popular events for private fliers.
According to data from JetSpy, which tracks US-registered airplanes, 914 business jets arrived in the Bay Area between Wednesday and Saturday.
While many would not be traveling for the Super Bowl, JetSpy data showed that Friday, the most popular day for arrivals, saw nearly 90% more business jets than usual.Author: Enter Your Email. Pete Syme. Source
